Where to stay?
Momo's Gite is your second home. The staff will make you feel like you always have been here with their kindness and hospitality. This place is where you will share moments with other travelers who have a thirst for adventures. The Gite is a very basic Berber accommodation somewhat akin to a youth hostel in terms of relative 'luxury status'. Your bed is a thin matress on the floor of a small dormitory. Make your own bed with the supplied sheets and blankets. They have a restaurant, bedrooms with western toilets and hot water showers. We're expecting to finish the Hammam for next year! Your best chance to experience the real Morocco rather than a pimped up hotel. No swimming pool or bar. :) The Gite "l'auberge a la Cathédrale" is located right in front of the famous "Cathedral Rock" in a little village called Iminwarg in the Tamga National park in the Ahansal valley. This is our river base for all of our activities (trekking and rafting). We recommend you spend a night at the Gite for the full experience during your stay in Morocco.

Traveling to Morocco?
When you think of a tour of Morocco, you think quickly to the Sahara, camels, sun and exotic scenery. But have you heard of the Atlas Mountains? Mt Toubkal after Mt Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain (4167m) in North Africa. While white-water enthusiasts have been riding the cataracts of the Atlas Mountains for decades, Morocco’s only just beginning to enter the wide public consciousness as a top rafting and kayaking destination. Others about us
Just returned for a fabulous trip with Yann and James on the Azilal river in Morocco. Truly a wonderful experience. They run a great trip, very professional, we always felt that our safety came first while at the same time keeping us relaxed and enjoying every minute. Amazing scenery and the best way to switch off! Thank you Berber Rafting! |
Amazing rafting in MoroccoI never done rafting before and never been to Morocco. I can only say the guide/ instructors were awesome and made you feel safe. The whole area in the Atlas Mountains are extremely beautiful ! I never seen anything like this before. So it's so worth it. everything was well taken care off and I love being on the water and not knowing what to come next. :D The people were friendly and the safety was number 1 priority! :D |
Fantastic trip on Morocco's most beautiful white water river.
We opted for the half day family rafting trip to get an introduction in to rafting and ended up seeing one of Morocco's hidden gems.
The drive up from Lac Oudane may seem like a bit of a chore on google maps but you'll be greeted by an astonishingly beautiful route up in to the high atlas on a very good road. Beyond the village of Tilligoute you'll find the wonderful git where Berber Rafting now base their trips from, up a dirt road that only heightens the sense of adventure. We were met by Yann and Fab who were excellent hosts, ploughing us full of fresh Moroccan cuisine for the day ahead. Yann and Fab have a great rapport and clearly love the job they do so well. Yann is a seriously experienced river guide and made sure everything was ship shape. We left from the git under the shadow of la cathedral rock and made our way down through some very fun grade 2/3 rapids in an ice cold snow melt river. The Alhansal cuts deep into the mountains meaning you raft through a fantastic canyon with +100m cliffs towering overhead. All the while Yann diligently points out the many sights to be seen. You'll end up at the tiny village of Tilligoute around lunch time where you can then speed back to the git by car to shower and feast on more wonderful food or head on home. We really didn't want to leave. The place in itself is magical and having the added delights of rafting through it just makes it unforgettable. We will be back for a longer trip! If you're looking at this versus the Ourika for rafting in Morocco it's a no brained. Do not be put off by the drive, as that's a highlight in itself.

TV Show "Risky Rivers": Bobbi Eden en Mark Tuitert - Rafting in Marokko
Guess where Bobbi Eden and Mark Tuitert are? We're stocked to be part of this new Dutch TV show "Risky Rivers" which was broadcasted on the Dutch TV channel BNNVARA.
IRF & Rescue3 Workshop Morocco
Join us for the annual IRF & Rescue 3 combined hosted by the team at Berber rafting adventures. We will be based on the banks of the Ahansal river in the High Atlas Mountains in Morocco. One of the unique points about the Morocco workshop is the fact we have the opportunity to operate a multiday trip as part of the programme
Support the locals
The Berbers live in a rural area with extreme weather conditions. We are based in a small village called Iminwarg, isolated from the world where the locals have limited access to facilities such as clothes, shoes, sleeping bags, head torches etc... Every year we try to donate as much as we can to support these people. We work with local mountain guides, drivers, cooks and mules. If you would like to support the Amazigh people, you are more than welcome to donate.
